The
Bezalel Institute of Art, founded in Jerusalem in 1906, aimed to revive
the visual arts in Jewish tradition. The Zionist national renaissance used
art nouveau to develop a new shape to the ancient seven-branched
menorah as the emblem of Judea. The art students' creations, displayed
in this Flash movie, are thus part of the romantic early 20th-century, attempt
to restore the ancient mythic essence of the Jewish people.
